My fast but special prawns with garlic & ginger receipe…

November 21st, 2009

Saturday is ussually the day i choose to put a little order,  in all those thinks i don’t have the time to pay attention during the  week. Calling friends and parents, fix the photos i took and create that archive that always is transferred to “another day” in the future “when i  will have the time….”

Doing this and that the time is passing and the alarm of our stomach rings!

-”Hey my man! What are we eating today?” Sometimes this question is so hard to answer specially when you don’t want to spend half of the day cooking but yet you want to treat yourself and the ones you love with something “special”;)

For this reason i always have my fridge and freezer feeled with the right incredients that are easy to combine and create a different result. I had at the freezer those prawns waiting to be the dish of the day and i felt that was the day…The menu would be simple, healthy, fast and “special”.

Prawns with garlic and ginger, green salad and if  we want a few extra calories basmati rice to add Asian aroma to our meal. What do you think?

Well we said YES at the same time so i started …

The good thing with Prawns is that they need a few minutes in room temperature water to defrost…In the meanwhile i wash the salad and some spring onions, saving time.

o.k Let me be “cheff” like and give you a propper receipe with ingredients and cooking instructions. So here we go…

INGREDIENTS for the prawns (For 2 good portions)

700 gr. Prawns (heads off and pealed apart of the tail part)

2 garlic cloves (crushed)

1 tea spoon sesame oil

Ginger 1 spoon (grated)

1 tea spoon oyster sauce

1 tea spoon soy sauce

Cooking:

Heat the sesame oil in a frying pan and add the crushed garlic. In a few seconds (when you can smell the garlic) add the ginger and the prawns and give them a stir or more …In 2 minutes (when the prawns start to get pink ) add the oyster and the soy sauce and stir once again.2 more minutes and your dish is ready.

Serve them on a bed of basmati rice with a green salad next to it …

TIPS:If the prawns you find in the market are pink color that means they are already boiled. In this case reduce the cooking time to 2-3 minutes just to get the flavours in to them.

If you don’t have the exotic ingredients (ginger, oyster sauce, soy sauce)no problems.Just the garlic will do.

Prawns are also nice made grilled or in the frying pan with very little oil and serve them with olive oil & lemon sauce and a dash of salt.

Best way to enjoy this receipe is with a nice company and a glass or more of dry white wine (i prefer chavignon blanc or a good Greek PAVLIDIS)

Flowers may bring a smile at your face…
